William (Bill) Arthur West

October 19, 1934 -  May 25, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Bill West announces that he passed away peacefully at Mississauga General Hospital on Sunday, May 25, 2025, with family by his side.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Geraldine (Gerry) (née Barran), his daughter Jennifer Neville (Gary), son James (Jim) West (Helena), daughter Sharon Scott (Larry), predeceased by his son Andrew West (Caroline).

Predeceased by stepson David Pilo (Heather), survived by stepdaughter Suzanne Michaelson (Croft), and stepson Robert Pilo (Meagan).

Cherished Grampa of Stephanie, Kathleen (Alex), Shannon, Brody (Marissa), Braeden, Andrew (Britt), Candice, Carly, Brendan and Megan, Nicky, Josh (Rachel), Aaron, Shelby, Sarah, Liam and Evie.

Proud Great-Grampa of Freya, Nash and Norrie.

Predeceased by his beloved parents, Arthur and Ruth West, and by his loving siblings, Tom (Marilew) and Kathie (Pete).

Bill was born and raised in Toronto. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Chemical Engineering, and received an MBA from Western University.

He worked in the oil industry for the majority of his career, serving as President of Esso Petroleum Canada and then as President of Petro-Canada Products. Bill was an impactful member of various boards and finished his career as President & CEO of Junior Achievement Canada.

Bill is remembered as a very loving husband and the ultimate gentleman. He was a man of grace, with a strong moral compass, and he was adored by his family.

His many interests included travel, reading, music, and sports, but golf was his true passion.

Bill’s family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke, Ontario. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke, Ontario. A reception will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm at St. George’s Golf and Country Club, 1668 Islington Ave., Etobicoke, Ontario.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Burstein and to the many staff at Trillium Health Partners and Mississauga General Hospital.

We will miss him dearly.
