In Celebration of

Valerie Chen

February 4, 1938 -  May 7, 2025

The oldest daughter born to Mr. & Mrs. Carter in Jamaica, Valerie was a serious child with many interests. She learned the trade of seamstress as she stepped into adult life and became meticulous and skilled at her trade. This served her well throughout her life.

Valerie immigrated to the UK with her husband, Dalton Chen for a few years and then they decided to immigrate to Canada where they settled and continued to grow their family to eventually become mother to four sons and one daughter.

Always very conscious of appearance, her skills were used to make little suits for her sons and dresses for her daughter and herself. Her family was always "well turned out" and looked good for all occasions. Valerie continued to sew as she matured and will be remembered for her love of fashion. Always independent and active she continued to find hobbies and interests within her community. Valerie will be missed.

I send my sincere condolences in this time of grief. The Bible gives a comforting hope that your loved one will soon come to life again on a beautiful paradise earth when death will be no more in John 5:28, 29.

On behalf of the Clarkson Senior's Association or deepest sympathy to the family. We will miss Valerie's smile, her laugh & tenacity to overcome and of course her high fashion sense. A friend to many and she will be sorely missed. Diane Lee Huba
