Ross Stephen Armitage passed away peacefully at his home in Toronto, in his 98th year.
Ross was born on October 28, 1927 to Leslie (Army) and Vera Armitage in Toronto. He graduated secondary school from Humberside Collegiate, before going on to study Business at the University of Toronto.
On September 11, 1954, Ross married Elizabeth Mary Robertson. They put down roots in Etobicoke and went on to have five boys - Robert, Charles, Stephen, John, and David. Over the years, they made many good friends and spent time traveling, enjoying winters in Florida and summers at the cottage.
Upon graduation from university, Ross began his career at Simpsons-Sears where he held a range of corporate positions during his nearly 35-year tenure. After taking early retirement, he embarked on a new phase of his career, finding his true passion in real estate with Royal LePage, only officially retiring and closing his last deal after he turned 80.
Ross was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth and sons, John and Robert. He will be greatly missed by Chuck (Chris), Steve and Dave (Allison), as well as by his grandchildren - Jordan, Daniel, Evan, Jeremy, and Vivian.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, on Thursday, February 6th from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at All Saints Kingsway, 2850 Bloor Street West, on Friday, February 7th at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dorothy Ley Hospice in Etobicoke.
