With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Maureen Frances Seminsky, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, on May 28, 2025, at the age of 69.
Maureen was a woman of extraordinary kindness and strength, whose impact on those around her will never be forgotten.
Maureen was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, to Neil and Catherine McIntyre. From a young age, Maureen exhibited a caring spirit and an innate desire to help others. Her natural inclination toward nurturing and comforting those in need led her to pursue a career first in nursing and later in clinical research, and become a dutiful caregiver for both of her parents.
Maureen married her devoted husband, Robert Seminsky, with whom she shared her life for 42 years.
Together, they took pride in raising three sons: Mark (Paul), Glen, and Paul (Gareth), who were the light of her life. Maureen’s love for her children and grandchildren, Katelyn and Lauren, was boundless, and her dedication to their well-being and success was evident in every moment they shared. She will be greatly missed by her sister and best friend, Neila (Tony, Adam and Sara Paesano). She was a constant source of encouragement, always available to offer a listening ear, comforting words, and kind, motherly guidance. One of her greatest joys was traveling the world on cruises, where she and her family explored new places, made cherished memories, and enjoyed each other's company.
Maureen had a wide circle of friends who loved her dearly. Her infectious positivity, empathetic nature, and fierce loyalty made her the kind of person everyone wanted in their corner. She touched countless lives and left behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and friendship that will never be forgotten.
Memorial visitation will be held at Turner & Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga, (HWY 10. N of QEW) on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m.
A Funeral Service will take place in the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 11 a.m. A luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Maureen's name can be made to PYNK.
In her semi-retirement, Maureen co-ordinated a knowledge translation study at Sunnybrook to increase referrals for fertility preservation of young women with breast cancer prior to receiving chemotherapy. There is now a special program at Sunnybrook to promote optimal care, education and research for young women with breast cancer called PYNK that is funded entirely by donations: https://donate.sunnybrook.ca/pynk
