In Celebration of

Ilda Maria Camara

April 21, 1936 -  May 18, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ilda Camara, on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

She passed suddenly, but peacefully, with her daughters Maria, Helena, and Ana by her side.

Ilda was a devoted wife to our father, Carlos Camara, who predeceased her on July 22, 1993.

She was the loving mother of Maria and her husband Jose Moreira, Helena and her husband Joe Pontes, and Ana and her husband Ricardo Correia.

She leaves behind a legacy of love as the proud Vavó to her five grandchildren: Justin Pontes (Partner Angela, Sabrina and Julian), Paul Moreira (Wife Ashley), Samantha Correia (Partner Rick), Veronica Pontes, and Amanda Moreira (Fiancé Ivan). Her great-granddaughter, Juliana Pontes, was her absolute pride and joy.

Ilda was predeceased by her siblings: brothers George Medeiros and Antonio Medeiros, and her sister Encarnação Medeiros.

Our mother leaves us with a shining example of love, patience, strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion.

Family and friends are invited to Turner & Porter – Neweduk - Erin Mills Chapel, Mississauga on Sunday, May 25, 2025 from 4-8 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, in Streetsville on Monday, May 26, 2025 at 10:30 a.m.

Interment to follow at Streetsville Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.

Together again, in eternal peace and love.

Mom,

Your hands raised generations with love and care. I’ll miss your hugs, your stories, and your strength. Thank you for shaping all of us to the people we are today. We will never forget the stories that you told to us, and the lessons you passed down.

You left behind all you knew—and all you loved—so we could have the chance to build a better life in Canada. Your sacrifice gave us everything.

Your memory will never be forgotten. We’ll think of you with every meal we prepare, every adventure we take, and in the way we care for and love our families—just as you taught us.

Love,

The Moreira Family <3

Mom
The house is empty without you here. I glance to where you were and don't see you, your smile. You asking "What's for dinner."

I will remember all the talks we had. The silly things we used to say and laugh till we almost peed. The songs that you used to sing and I laughed when you didn't have your dentures in.

All the sacrifices you did coming here to give us a better life. It wasn't easy leaving your parents. I love you for that. ❤️

Mom know that you will be always around us. You presence will live in us all.

We love you
Ana, Ricardo & Samantha

Mom,

I can’t believe you are no longer with us. Although I did not call or visit daily, I knew you were always on the couch watching reruns on TV, but no longer. I knew I could visit anytime, but no longer.

I remember the many times I would say how great your food was and you would start to give me the ingredients and tell me how it’s done, I would say “stop”, you need to tell Joe, and you would laugh.

You would always say “give kisses to the little one”, and wished you could speak to Juliana in English, to hear her stories. You loved it when she learned how to say “Vavo a benca” and each time she said it.

There are so many more memories that we cherish and will continue to share.

We love and miss you!!

Rest in peace Madrinha. I have many wonderful memories from my childhood because of you like walking down the sidewalk on Bremen Lane to your house on a Saturday morning so you could cut my bangs and give me cookies when I left. Also, grinding the meat for you while you stuffed the chorizo casings in our basement and you kept telling me to becareful with my fingers. All fond memories I'll hold dear to my heart.
We will all miss you .....xoxo
