STREMECKI, Eugenia “Jane” - On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, we said goodbye to Jane who died peacefully surrounded by family, having inspired us all with her courage and her conviction that she was on her way to be with her best friend, the love of her life, her favourite dance partner, and husband of 62 years, Alex. Jane was a devoted mother and Babci who passionately supported her family, never missing an event, travelling across the country to be with them as everyone’s favourite cheerleader. Her enthusiasm and boundless energy, her wonderful sense of humour, her deep curiosity and compassion and, of course, her elegant sense of style, will be deeply missed by her daughter Aldonna (Richard Blouin) and son Stephan (Wendy née Atkinson), her grand-children Robyn (Aaron Kadatz), Samantha (Terron Bewski), Madeleine (Andrew Marrese) and Nicolas (Raquel MacInnis), her great-grandson Harrison, and her sister Nataline (née Kuflkowski), her children and their families. Jane’s generous spirit infused her work in such projects as co-developing a kindergarten program in Pointe-Claire, Quebec (where she lived from 1961-71) or supporting children with learning disabilities at St. John Fisher School. Upon moving back to Ontario, she embraced volunteer work at May Court. She was also an active member at Markland Wood Golf Club for over 50 years, chairing Social and Junior programs. She loved people and was beloved by her many wonderful friends over her very long, busy life first in New Toronto, then Montreal and lastly, Mississauga. Jane was avidly engaged in numerous activities right up until her final weeks.
We all love you with all our hearts and share a favourite poem of yours which describes you, our unwavering caregiver, perfectly.
If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain.
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain.
(by Emily Dickinson)
