In Celebration of

Eugenia "Jane" Stremecki

October 31, 1930 -  February 26, 2025

STREMECKI, Eugenia “Jane” - On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, we said goodbye to Jane who died peacefully surrounded by family, having inspired us all with her courage and her conviction that she was on her way to be with her best friend, the love of her life, her favourite dance partner, and husband of 62 years, Alex. Jane was a devoted mother and Babci who passionately supported her family, never missing an event, travelling across the country to be with them as everyone’s favourite cheerleader. Her enthusiasm and boundless energy, her wonderful sense of humour, her deep curiosity and compassion and, of course, her elegant sense of style, will be deeply missed by her daughter Aldonna (Richard Blouin) and son Stephan (Wendy née Atkinson), her grand-children Robyn (Aaron Kadatz), Samantha (Terron Bewski), Madeleine (Andrew Marrese) and Nicolas (Raquel MacInnis), her great-grandson Harrison, and her sister Nataline (née Kuflkowski), her children and their families. Jane’s generous spirit infused her work in such projects as co-developing a kindergarten program in Pointe-Claire, Quebec (where she lived from 1961-71) or supporting children with learning disabilities at St. John Fisher School. Upon moving back to Ontario, she embraced volunteer work at May Court. She was also an active member at Markland Wood Golf Club for over 50 years, chairing Social and Junior programs. She loved people and was beloved by her many wonderful friends over her very long, busy life first in New Toronto, then Montreal and lastly, Mississauga. Jane was avidly engaged in numerous activities right up until her final weeks.

We all love you with all our hearts and share a favourite poem of yours which describes you, our unwavering caregiver, perfectly.

If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain.
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain.
(by Emily Dickinson)

Jane was such a special lady. Always smiling, always dressed beautifully and with perfect hair! Her flawless complexion was the envy of every May Courter she worked with! She was our ‘Lady Jane’, our very own Polish Princess ( her words!).
We love you and will cherish your memories always. Keep dancing with your ‘boyfriend’.

Jane always came in the Shop with a smile on her face and eager to get into her volunteer role. She was upbeat, funny and stylish. Our Wednesday afternoon shift would get together for pot lucks in the summer and Christmas luncheons. I was Jane's Uber driver for these events and loved our drives together. We would discuss world events, how things are going at the Shop, what we've been up to and reminisce about our beloved husbands. One time we were so involved in our catch up that we missed the cut off! But true to form, she just laughed it off and said it was a nice day for a drive. I will miss driving "Miss Jane". She is now with her soul mate .

I met Jane shortly after I moved into Inverhouse Manor in the Spring of 2023 and from the get-go we hit it off. She was such a wonderful woman with a droll sense of humour and a big heart. She and I both loved musical theatre, going out for dinner and shopping. I introduced her to on-line shopping. She couldn't believe the bargains I could find for her!! We had planned a trip to see Come from Away in Toronto once the weather improved but sadly that will never happen. I will miss this sweet lady who made the transition to my new life without my husband so much easier. RIP beautiful lady. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend on May 18th. I am leaving the day before for a 10 day vacation in Paris.
