With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Chrissy Dongmei Li, who left us peacefully on September 26th, 2025, at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, at the age of 50 after a four month journey with cancer. Surrounded by her devoted husband, Jason, and their beloved daughter, Bernice. Chrissy faced her battle with cancer with extraordinary courage and an unwavering positive spirit that touched and inspired everyone at the hospital.
Chrissy had a radiant soul whose warmth, resilience, and boundless optimism touched countless lives. Her playful spirit and enduring love for life left an indelible legacy of hope and joy in the hearts of her family, friends, and colleagues.
Born in 1974 in Jiangmen, a vibrant city in southern China, Chrissy met her lifelong partner, Jason, in middle school. Though Jason studied in another city after high school, they reunited in Jiangmen following his university graduation. The couple married in 1999 and immigrated to Canada in 2001, where they built a life filled with love and laughter. In 2008, their daughter, Bernice, was born, bringing immense joy to their home. Chrissy found her greatest happiness in nurturing her family, creating a warm, supportive haven through cozy dinners, cherished holidays, and unforgettable travels. The deep bond she shared with Jason and Bernice was a cornerstone of her life, evident to all who knew her.
Chrissy began her career as a kindergarten teacher in China at age 18, after completing her early education there. In Canada, she furthered her studies at Centennial College, graduating in 2006. She dedicated 19 years to long-term care, including 15 years at the Village of Erin Meadows and four at AgeCare, where her compassionate care uplifted countless residents.
Chrissy cherished her friendships, developing them at each stage of her life, with most of these lasting the remainder of her life. At the time of her passing, Chrissy still had friendships that she developed in China as a young child. Until Chrissy almost lost the ability to talk, she would still express how grateful she was to have lived a long life full of wonderful experiences as well as a loving family, many good friends and compassionate care givers. Her unwavering positivity and grace exemplified a life truly well-lived.
Chrissy is survived by her husband, Jason, their daughter, Bernice, and a wide circle of family and friends who will forever cherish her radiant spirit.
