In Celebration of

Barbara Wintrip

December 19, 1943 -  June 29, 2025

Barbara Ann Wintrip (nee Johnson) December 19, 1943 – June 29, 2025). We are devastated by the death of Barb, our mother, wife, Nana and heart of our family.

We all looked to Barb for guidance in life’s moments, from the big important decisions to everyday events. And from time to time, she would even offer her opinion without being asked! Barb spent most of her adult life caring for aging and ailing family members starting with her great aunts, Mary and Agnes, then her mother-in-law, Lillian, her mother, Betty and most recently her sister, Pam. She would make several visits weekly to each of them and provide the comfort of her presence. We know that she made a huge difference.

Barb loved to travel, play tennis and golf, watch the Toronto Blue Jays, play Bridge, do crosswords, read and most importantly, get daily updates on all our lives. Her spirit always belied her age. If you asked her how old she was, she would say, “27,” even up until a few weeks ago.

Barb leaves behind her husband of 58 years, John; her children, Aynsley (Floyd), Ian (Danielle) and Garrett; and her grandchildren Jack, Teddy, Max and Esme.

Visitation will be held at Turner and Porter “Peel Chapel,” 2180 Hurontario St, Mississauga on Sunday, July 6th from 5-8pm.

She will be buried in a private ceremony at Park Lawn Cemetary, along with her sister, parents and grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donating to Trillium Health Partners, where mom received exceptional care in her last days. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and PSWs who cared for Barb the last couple of years with special recognition to family physician Dr Rosalinda Asaro who has always gone above and beyond in her care.

We were very sad to hear about Barb’s passing.
We know that her illness caused her a lot of suffering but she always maintained her positive attitude. I will fondly remember Barb for helping to care for my mother, Lillian, for a few years. I know she thought the world of Barb!

Laurie Ewart (Barb’s neighbourhood Bridge Club)

Barb was part of our Applewood Bridge club for many years. For the past 5 years, she played on line with her group almost every Thursday. Always there and ready for a bit of fun!
Barb always had a positive spirit no matter her physical condition. I enjoyed hearing her laughter. Her love of red sporty cars and red geraniums always brought a smile to her friends.
Barb’s children and grandchildren were such a big part of her life. You meant the world to her. John, you looked after her so unrelenting. I remember that you even made the pie when she hostessed the group on Swirling Leaves.
I sincerely hope that your close family ties and beautiful memories of Barb will help you through this difficult time. I will miss her
Sincerely, Laurie Ewart

Barb and John were the last of the original neighbours on Swirlingleaves before they moved to Lorne Park. Over the years, we enjoyed their neighbourly interactions, dog visits, conversations and waves from across the street. Such a nice couple. We have missed them since their move. However, now we don’t have to compete with John any more for trying to have the best grass on the street! Rest in peace Barb. Condolences to John and the family. Sorry for your family’s loss.

John, Aynsley, Ian and Garrett,
I was so sorry to hear of Barb's passing. I have happy memories of summer vacations up north, with Aunt Betty, Barb and Pam.
Barb was gracious, kind, and had a wonderful sense of humour.
My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
