It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we share the news of Art’s death, at the age of 91. He died peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto with family by his side on Tuesday July 29, 2025.
He leaves his loving wife of forty years, Sylvia Keyes, and his cherished children, Anne-Marie Keyes and Steven Keyes, and step-daughter, Lara Kotlar (Rob Tough). He also leaves a brother, John Keyes (Liz) and a brother-in law, Calvin Cochrane, as well as grandchildren Haylee Keyes (Brandon), Kelsee Keyes, Lex Kotlar and honourary granddaughter, Samantha Spicer. He is survived by a niece Christine Keyes and nephews Greg Keyes, Justin Cochrane, & Matthew Cochrane.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur Keyes Sr. and Flora Keyes, (nee MacDonald) from Arnprior.
Art was a loving and supportive husband and father. He was humble, smart, and funny in his quiet way, and encouraged everyone to just do their best. He kept his Sarnia friends from grade school onward and always enjoyed reminiscing with them. He spent 40 years as a chartered accountant and chartered financial analyst, working in Sarnia, Montreal, and Toronto.
The Celebration of Life service will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 3055 Bloor St. W., Etobicoke on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. Interment will take place at Park Lawn Cemetery, 2845 Bloor St. W. Etobicoke, following the reception.
The Keyes family wish to thank the staff and physicians on 2E and the Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Health Centre or to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
