In Celebration of

Aneyamma Elamathail

May 30, 1945 -  April 16, 2025

With heavy hearts we mourn the loss of a remarkable stoic woman whose life steadily reflected the values of faith, love, family, and kindness, virtues that feel increasingly rare in our ever-changing world.

Aneyamma Elamathail was born and raised in Pandangerry, Eduthua, Kerala, India. She was the third oldest of nine children born to K.M Thomas and Mariamma Thomas.

Aneyamma’s life took her to live in Cologne, Germany in her twenties, where she made her home along with surviving husband John and children Jino and Jiku until July 1987 when she and her family immigrated to Canada, making Toronto/Mississauga their eventual home. In Germany, she trained to work as a Nurse and worked for many years at St. Vincent’s Hospital, in Nippis, Cologne. Once she arrived in Canada, Aneyamma worked for over 25 years at Trillium Hospital. She was a dedicated healthcare worker, caring for others with compassion and dedication.

Aneyamma lived with quiet strength and unwavering purpose, instilling in those around her the importance of hard work, the pursuit of education, the warmth of family, and the simple but profound comfort of a full belly. Aneyamma was very skilled in the kitchen and would often make trays of her delicious Biryani for friends, coworkers, and family.

Aneyamma walked in her faith in our lord God every day through her actions, her prayers, and her love for others. Though we don’t understand why she had to leave us now, we find peace knowing she is reunited our family and friends in heaven and is resting in the presence of the Jesus Christ our Saviour in whom she trusted implicitly.

She loved her family dearly, especially her only granddaughter, her Hannah Kutty, who brought her endless pride and happiness.

We pray that she continues to watch over us, especially the granddaughter she cherished, giving us strength and comfort from above.

May her values spring roots of belief and faith on every person she touch in her life and may she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of God.

I will always remember Aneyamma auntie's kindness and warmth. I have many cherished memories from my childhood of staying at her and Uncle John's house with Jino and Jiku, and she always kept us well fed. She was a great friend to my parents as well, and she will be dearly missed.

I express my deepest sympathy in this time of grief. The Bible promises that your loved one will soon live again on a beautiful paradise earth when death will be no more in John 5:28, 29.
