It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vikica (Viktorija) Mimica (née Stivicic) on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the age of 83. She passed away after a brief battle with cancer at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
Beloved wife to Ante (Tony) Mimica, who passed away in 2020, she is predeceased by her dear sister Ljubica and nephew Kresho, and is survived by her brother Marijan, and sisters Draga, Terezija and Gordana, together with their spouses. She will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews - Maryann, Lisa, Aleksandra, Hrvoje, Marijana, Krešo, Robert, Mario, Lidija and Siniša, along with their spouses - as well as great-nieces and great-nephews spread across Canada, Croatia and France.
Born in Rešetari, Croatia, where she spent her formative years before moving to Canada in 1965, Vikica found her greatest joy in spending time with family and friends. She was an incredible host and cook, and shared her passion for good food and entertaining with those who were lucky enough to know her. She was always the life of the party and although her enthusiasm waned somewhat with age, she always had that sparkle in her eye.
As an immigrant to Canada, she worked diligently to build a better life for herself with her greatest love, Tony, whom she married in 1970. She rose quickly through the ranks at Bank of Montreal, where she worked proudly for 33 years. Vikica and Tony had a model marriage built on commitment, forgiveness and mutual respect. They showered their nieces and nephews with love, who became their surrogate children. Together, they created countless memories in their beautiful home, surrounded by a pristine garden and an inviting swimming pool, where summers were spent living life to the fullest.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate Palliative Care Team at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care and comfort they provided to Vikica at the end of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Croatian Martyrs Church in Mississauga, a church she loved, where she was an active member and sang in the choir.
Počivala u miru Božjem.
