In Celebration of

Vickie Marie May (nee Sava)

January 9, 1949 - December 8, 2025

Vickie Marie May (nee Sava), 76 of Mississauga, Ontario passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 8th, 2025, after a long battle with Lupus.

Vickie was born on January 9th, 1949, to George James Sava & Joyce Burton Sava (nee Butland) in Hamilton, Ontario. Loving & devoted Mother to Jeffrey Howard, Mother-in-Law to Jane Potter, Sister to Fred Sava & Sister-in-Law Kathy Kirkby as well as being Grandma Vickie to Wesley, Charlie & Ella. Vickie very much believed in the fact that friends are the family you get to choose & there are too many names to mention. Vickie impacted more people than she ever realized & she will be missed by so many.

Vickie originally graduated from the Credit Valley School of Nursing in 1972 (absorbed by Sheridan College in 1973) as a Registered Nurse & Class President. She worked tirelessly in Clinical Research Oncology at the Toronto General Hospital & then in 1988 Vickie transitioned from Nursing to bookkeeping for the Family Business started by her Father George, Mother Joyce & her Brother Fred. Vickie rose to become their
successful Comptroller and eventually Co-Owner of Sava Fire Equipment Inc. with her Brother Fred.

Vickie was a voracious reader, loved to do needlework, play bridge, was a proud member of Precious Gems, a retired Mississauga Chapter of the Red Hat Society. Vickie was a huge fan of the Toronto Blue Jays & watched just about every game. The Jays run to the World Series was the perfect way to end her last season. Even as Vickie’s health declined, she was there for the people that she cared about as a devoted listener, providing emotional support & advice when needed.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Credit Valley Golf & Country Club on Friday January 9th, 2026, between the hours of 3PM & 7PM for food & drinks.

If desired, donations may be made to one of Vickie’s two favourite Charities.
