Gerulath, Susan Frances, 85, of Etobicoke, passed away peacefully with her sons by her side on January 4, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Predeceased by her loving Husband, Alan, and her brother Brian, Susan is survived by her brother Derry, sons Karl (Sharon), Peter (Alana) and grandchildren Finn, Jack, Henry, and Everett.

Susan, born Frances Susan in 1939, was the beloved daughter to parents Frank and Hilda, who immigrated to Canada from Ireland. Susan began her career as a public health nurse in the city of Toronto, which evolved into a position working in obstetrics at St. Michael’s Hospital. It was there that she would meet her husband of nearly 55 years, Dr. Alan Gerulath. After some years working as a nurse, Susan chose to pursue her passion for working with children, and started a new role with the Children’s Aid Society. After having children of her own, Susan took time away from her career, devoting herself to her family and many family pets. When her boys were grown Susan returned to school for a fellowship in Family Systems in Psychotherapy. Susan spent the remainder of her career working at the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre, dedicated to the noble profession of supporting families and children with mental health needs.

In her later years Susan adored her role as “Gran”, enjoying adventures such as fishing, boating, hiking (and of course trips for ice cream) with Alan and her grandchildren. Susan was extremely social and delighted in relationships with extended family and her various groups of friends whom she held close to her heart.

The family would be honored to invite all who are able attend her memorial service at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel at 2357 Bloor Street West, on February 1st. Visitation at 2pm. Funeral Service at 3 p.m. and reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
