Peter Marsh passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, leaving behind a legacy as a Father, a Scouter, and a lover of the great outdoors.
Peter was a loving father to Heather Johnson (Andrew) and Jeffrey Marsh (Rachael), and beloved brother to his siblings Chris (Shirley) and Paula (Armando). He was proud to be an uncle to Rob, Andy, Megan, Lorna, and Lucas and their wonderful families. He was pre-deceased by his parents Victor & Joan (née Wheatley), as well as his long-time partner Lorraine Dunsmuir. He deeply treasured family get-togethers, especially time at the Cottage and Marsh Christmas.
Following in Victor's footsteps, Peter's first volunteer experience was with St. John's Ambulance Cadets, where Peter provided first aid at local ice hockey rinks. In 1981, Peter first joined the Scouts as a Beaver Leader at Faith Lutheran Church in Brantford where he was known as Rusty. When his son Jeff swam up from Beavers to Cubs, Peter moved with him becoming a Cubs Leader and then a Scouts leader. Peter returned to Beavers as a Leader with 1st Streetsville, before eventually going on to serve as Group Commissioner. Peter cherished the friends he made and the time he spent serving in Scouts for over 44 years.
Peter was also an active member of his church throughout his life; attending Faith Lutheran, Peace Pickering, and St. Philip's. Peter loved spending time with his church family. Peter served in many roles through the years including joining the “Cover Girls +” (the weekly quilting group) as well as with the choir; and serving his community through volunteering with Out of the Cold, the Good Food Market and countless other community initiatives.
Peter enjoyed camping trips both with his family and with scouting, sharing his love of nature, and encouraging everyone to leave the world around them just a little better than they found it.
When he wasn't with family, at church, or volunteering, Peter enjoyed a long career, first with KeepRight Refrigeration in Brantford, and then as a Materials Planner at Nienkamper Furniture in Scarborough, where he retired in 2018.
Throughout his life, Peter devoted himself to the promise he made as a Beaver leader: to be kind and to help take care of the world.
Peter will be remembered for his kindness, generous willingness to help others, and the positive impact he made on the world around him.
A celebration of Peter’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at St Philip's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with a brief visitation starting at 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., with refreshments to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Peter's local Scouts group
