It is with profound sadness that the family of Penny Anne Austin announce her peaceful passing on September 20, 2025, at the age of 84, in Mississauga, Ontario.

Born on August 1, 1941, in Toronto, Ontario, to Barry and Lorene Simpson, Penny was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose warmth and generosity touched all who knew her.

Penny met the love of her life, Jon Austin, in secondary school, and together they built a lifetime of love and family. She was known for her fierce devotion to her children and grandchildren, her faith, and her commitment to her community.

She spent many years working with the Peel District School Board in the Program Department, where she made a lasting impact.

A longtime member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church and later St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Mississauga, Penny’s faith guided her throughout her life and brought her much comfort.

She is lovingly remembered by her children Sean (Fareeda), Stephen, Lori (Shane), and David (Kainani); and by her cherished granddaughters Emma, Aisling, and Piper, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Penny was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jon, and her parents, Barry and Lorene Simpson.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Villages of Erin Meadows Retirement Community for their care, kindness, and compassion shown to Penny.

Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter "Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel', 1981, Dundas St. W., Mississauga, on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatious Loyola Church, 2300 Burnhamthorpe Rd., Mississauga, on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 10:30 a.m.
