It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, Nicola Galante. Nicola passed peacefully with his family by his side at Mississauga Trillium Hospital. Nicola is survived by his wife, Rosa, his sons, Mario (Patti), Tony (Erin) and Paolo, and his seven grandchildren, Isabella, Katarina, Lauren, Regan, Taryn, Nathaniel and Domenica. Nicola was predeceased by his parents, Donato and Rosa, and by his older brothers, Giulio, Antonio and Giuseppe.
Nicola was born in Casalbordino, Chieti, Italy, and in the early 1960s, as a teenager, emigrated to Canada, where he joined his brothers Giulio and Antonio, in search of opportunity. It was in Toronto in 1967, that Nicola met and wed his love of 57 years, Rosa (nee Rizzi).
Nicola will be remembered as an outgoing, loving and caring person. Never one to sit idle, by day, Nicola was an owner/operator truck driver, and by nights and weekends, he was a hockey dad and a self-taught mechanic, electrician, carpenter, welder and winemaker. Nicola also loved spending time at the cottage on Lake Simcoe.
