Nelson Walker passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13th, 2024, at the age of 92, surrounded by his son and grandchildren. He has rejoined his beloved wife, Evelyn Wilson, who preceded him in death in 2008.
Nelson is survived by his children, Steven Walker (whose wife Wendy passed in 2017) and Susan Wright (Doug), as well as his cherished grandchildren Andrew, Jeff (Jaclyn), Zach (Laura), and Robbie. Nelson was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandchild, due later this month.
For over four decades, Nelson dedicated himself to Anchor Cap while simultaneously sharing his expertise in graphic arts as a night school instructor at Central Tech. His strong work ethic was balanced by a passion for travel, which he indulged with Evelyn on numerous memorable trips. Their adventures took them to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Ireland, Scotland, Barbados, and Alaska. They also enjoyed many cruises and a special journey on the Rocky Mountain Train through the Canadian Rockies and east coast.
The family shares fond memories of summers spent at their cottage in Coldwater. Following retirement, Nelson and Evelyn relocated from Toronto to Alliston.
Nelson was a skilled woodworker, crafting blanket boxes for all his grandsons. His talent extended to creating beautiful bowls and memory boxes. He possessed a natural aptitude for mechanics and was known for his ability to fix anything.
Nelson's life was characterized by hard work, devotion to family, a love of travel, and a passion for craftsmanship. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
