In Celebration of

Nelson Walker

September 2, 1932 -  October 13, 2024

Nelson Walker passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13th, 2024, at the age of 92, surrounded by his son and grandchildren. He has rejoined his beloved wife, Evelyn Wilson, who preceded him in death in 2008.

Nelson is survived by his children, Steven Walker (whose wife Wendy passed in 2017) and Susan Wright (Doug), as well as his cherished grandchildren Andrew, Jeff (Jaclyn), Zach (Laura), and Robbie. Nelson was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandchild, due later this month.

For over four decades, Nelson dedicated himself to Anchor Cap while simultaneously sharing his expertise in graphic arts as a night school instructor at Central Tech. His strong work ethic was balanced by a passion for travel, which he indulged with Evelyn on numerous memorable trips. Their adventures took them to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Ireland, Scotland, Barbados, and Alaska. They also enjoyed many cruises and a special journey on the Rocky Mountain Train through the Canadian Rockies and east coast.

The family shares fond memories of summers spent at their cottage in Coldwater. Following retirement, Nelson and Evelyn relocated from Toronto to Alliston.

Nelson was a skilled woodworker, crafting blanket boxes for all his grandsons. His talent extended to creating beautiful bowls and memory boxes. He possessed a natural aptitude for mechanics and was known for his ability to fix anything.

Nelson's life was characterized by hard work, devotion to family, a love of travel, and a passion for craftsmanship. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Dear Nelson’s family,
I am so sorry to hear of Nelson’s passing. He lived a long and productive life.

He and Evelyn were working friends with my wife (Hildy) and myself at Morningside-High Park church and I continued to maintain periodic phone conversations with him over the years after Evelyn passed away. He certainly struggled with his loss of her but managed to continue on.

I, as property manager at MHP, certainly appreciated being able to consult with him around physical issues around the church. He always was helpful.

With respect,
Peter

We were lucky to have met Nelson through my late sister Wendy as he was her father in law who she adored. We always considered Nelson to be extended family and throughout the years he attended many of our family gatherings. He was always so sweet and we truly enjoyed his company and conversation.
We were very sorry to hear of his passing and we know how much he will be missed by his family. Our deepest condolences to Steve, Susan, Drew, Jeff, Robbie and Zach at this difficult time. You are in our thoughts.

I have known Nelson my entire life. I remember little things like his photography and taking pictures at Colmer picnics. I remember him sitting with my father in the backyard often laughing. I remember them vacationing with my parents and hearing the funny stories of things that happened on those trips. Lately I remember and often participated in talking about his courtship, about the Wilson family and his dog Heidi. He will be missed.

I loved spending time with Nelson. He shared stories about when he first started dating Evelyn and after they got married. We would just sit and laugh at some of the situations they got into. It’s funny now but maybe not so much then. He will be missed. Love you
