It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Martin (Marcin) Gdyczynski, age 54, on November 17, 2025.
Martin had a rare gift for connecting with people — the kind of person who made friends in minutes and left an impression that lasted a lifetime. His curiosity, quick wit, and unmistakable laugh brought warmth into every room, and his fearless approach to life inspired everyone who knew him. He lived with a spirit of adventure, driven by a need to learn, build, try, and push boundaries simply because he believed anything was possible with enough heart and determination.
Brilliant in his work in IT, data network architecture, and digital transformation, Martin was a born self-starter who founded companies from a young age. He faced challenges the way he faced everything else — with grit, creativity, and a quiet confidence that turned obstacles into opportunities. His mind never stopped exploring, improving, imagining what could be built next.
Outside of work, Martin poured that same passion into the things he loved most: cooking for the people he cared about, travelling the world, and racing cars with a devotion that defined so much of his life. He was a pillar of the Canadian grassroots motorsports community — a driver, builder, and innovator whose relentless drive pushed cars to their limits.
As president of both the HADA Motorsport Club and Trillium BMW, he gave endlessly to the racing community he cherished. He mentored new drivers, shared hard-earned knowledge without hesitation, and brought a spirit of camaraderie that turned competitors into teammates and friends.
Martin will be remembered for his laughter, his courage to chase bold dreams, his persistence when things broke or went sideways, and the joy he found in every challenge. And of course, for his massive collection of Converse shoes and quirky patterned socks — a perfect reflection of the originality and playfulness that made him so easy to love.
Though his passing was sudden, Martin’s presence endures in the countless lives he touched. He is survived by his parents, Jolanta and Roman Gdyczynski; his sister, Margaret Gdyczynski; his godson, Gregory Vukovic; his niece, Maia Vukovic; and his brother-in-law, Andrew Vukovic, as well as a wide circle of family, friends, and fellow racers who will forever carry his memory with them.
