It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marion Aldred, who died on September 15, 2025 in her home, in Mississauga, Ontario, at the age of 88.
Born in Toronto on December 6, 1936, Marion was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, wife, and friend. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her. She had a lifelong love of musicals and books, and found great joy in caring for her grandchildren—when they were young and spending time with them as adults.
Marion married at 18 and had four children by the age of 27. Family was always at the heart of her life, and she poured her love and energy into raising them. Marion had a special relationship with each of her children. She raised them with tough love and old-school values, encouraging independence and resilience. Her journey was marked by both joys and hardships, each met with resilience and perseverance. She cared deeply for her daughter Judi through many health challenges and remained a constant presence in her life until Judi’s passing at the age of 32.

Childhood & Family Roots
Marion was the second eldest of five daughters born to Anne and William Martin. She often shared vivid memories of her childhood—times of both challenge and joy. When she was just five years old, her father William went off to serve in WW2 and was gone for five years. During those years, Marion and her older sister Margaret would help care for their younger sisters at night while their mother Anne worked long hours as a cleaning lady at Eatons. These early experiences shaped Marion’s resilience, responsibility, and deep sense of family.
Despite hardships, she loved telling stories of growing up with her sisters—Margaret, Elizabeth, Phyllis, and Lorraine—recalling the laughter, closeness, and mischief that filled their home. Her passing marks the closing of a remarkable generation of women whose strength and love shaped their families for decades.

Spirit & Beliefs
As a child, Marion visited many different churches and learned about various religions. From this early exploration, she developed an open-hearted approach to faith. She raised her family with the belief that each person should find their own spiritual path. While she believed deeply in God and Jesus, she was not a frequent churchgoer—her faith was personal, quiet, and expressed through love, kindness, and acceptance.

Life & Legacy
Marion was known for her friendly nature, sense of humour, and generous spirit. She would stop to talk to everyone she met and always had a smile to share. Her kindness and openness made her a beloved presence in every community she joined.
She cherished time outdoors, especially at the family cottage—affectionately known as The Puddle. Whether walking, swimming, or biking, Marion found peace in nature and joy in the simple pleasures of cottage life. She also treasured time with her nieces and nephews, creating stories, laughter, and lifelong memories across generations.
Marion spent years researching and building the family ancestry tree, preserving connections and stories that will live on for generations. She worked in administrative roles for over 20 years and later as a salesclerk at Eaton’s and Sears, where she loved talking with customers and carefully arranging clothing displays.
She embraced technology and computers in her later years unfortunately sometimes thing went array because she would click on things without fully realising the outcome and garnered the nickname of the “click lady” when her computer would inevitably stop working.
