It is with incredibly heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the sudden and unexpected passing of our mother, Ljiljana “Lily” Stupar, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Hamilton, Ontario. She was born in Pristina, Yugoslavia, on April 2, 1958, to parents Milijana Perovic and Radomir Zdravkovic.
Lily is survived by her loving children, Marko (Frangely Cruces) and Tatjana (Sherwin D’Souza), and step-son, Aleksandar Stupar (Roya Anvar) and her beloved grandchildren, Juliana D’Souza and Makai Stupar. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all of her extended family, including her dear aunts and uncles—Velimir Perovic, Milva Perovic, and Mira Perovic—and by her many cherished friends.
Our beloved mother will be remembered for the warmth of her heart and the beauty she brought into everything she touched. She expressed herself through words and poetry that revealed the depth of her soul, and she nurtured others with food made from love and intention. Her home bloomed with the life of her cherished plants and flowers—she inherited her mother’s green thumb and shared her love for gardening—and her days were often filled with the rhythm of music that lifted her spirit.
After immigrating to Canada in 1985, she met our father, Bosko “Bob” Stupar, and together they built a life grounded in love, hard work, and family. Their marriage was pure and deeply loving, blessed with two children who became her greatest joy. As a family, they poured their hearts into the restaurant they owned and ran together, creating a space filled with warmth, laughter, and the comfort of authentic Balkan food. Though their paths later diverged, the respect and connection they shared through their children and years of dedication endured.
She carried herself with grace and an effortless sense of style—always so thoughtfully put together, even for the simplest moments. Beneath her elegance was a woman of deep feeling, intelligence, and sensitivity. Her warmth extended far beyond her own family; she welcomed each of our friends with open arms, treating them as her own children and showing love in the way she knew best—through the meals she lovingly prepared.
She silently bore the weight of losing her twin brother, Ljubisa Zdravkovic, a grief that deeply shaped her and remained with her throughout her life. Though she faced many inner battles, she met life with courage, tenderness, and love—and her devotion to her children never wavered. She now joins her twin brother and her precious granddaughter, Emilia—also a twin herself—in eternal peace.
Her love was vast and unconditional, and it will live on forever in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to be loved by her.
