It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jose Nuno Caetano Matos.

He passed peacefully surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Beloved Husband of Maria Eugenia Medeiros Matos, loving father of Bernadette (Tom), Laudalino (Alice), Sandy (Dave), doting Grandfather to Madeline, Charlotte, Lucy & James. He leaves behind his Sister Esmeralda Matos Ferreira and a large extended family.

Jose Nuno was born in Sao Miguel Acores and immigrated to Toronto in 1964, alone, to start a new life for his growing family. The family joined him in 1966, where he’d already made a life for himself as a Master Painter.

Jose Nuno, though a man of few words, expressed his love by being a kind and patient father and husband. He truly enjoyed the simple things in life with his family being at the heart of his life. He will be dearly missed by all.
