It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Jose Cabral Melo, on January 13, 2026.

Jose was born in Sao Miguel Portugal on April 17th, 1946. Beloved husband for 56 years of Maria, much loved father of Paulo (wife Evete) and Nelson. Grandfather of Katrina and Matthew. Jose will be fondly remembered by his entire family, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Preceded by his father, Jose Cabral Melo, mother Deolinda Pacheco Couto and brother Manuel Cabral Melo. Survived by his brother Peter Melo and sister Maria Melo.

Jose loved woodworking, breeding birds, gardening, and planting his large vegetable gardens. He was a man of many interests in life.

Our family wishes to extend our sincerest gratitude for the love, support and compassion from all the staff and nurses at the Kensington Hospice in Toronto.

Family and friends may visit at Turner & Porter- Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St West, Toronto on Monday, January 19, 2026 for visitation from 6 – 9 p.m. Prayers at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass to be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St.Mark's Roman Catholic Church, 277 Park Lawn, Etobicoke.
