With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Henryk Glowacki on March 4, 2026, at the age of 99.
Henryk was born on January 21, 1927, in Krzymieniec, Poland, to his beloved parents, Michal and Maria. His early life was marked by extraordinary hardship. During the Second World War, he and his family survived exile in Siberia and suffered the devastating loss of his father. As a teenager, Henryk joined Anders’ Army, travelling through the Middle East with the Polish Army Corps before making his way to Persia and sailing to England, where he was reunited with his mother and siblings while attending military college.
In 1957, Henryk immigrated to Canada, where he built the life he had long dreamed of. He married his beloved wife, Teresa, and together they created a home rooted in love, resilience, and unwavering devotion. In October 2025, Henryk and Teresa celebrated an incredible 65 years of marriage with their family.
Henryk was a devoted and proud father to John (Krystyna) and Peter (Barbara). His greatest joy came from watching his family grow. He was a cherished grandfather to five grandchildren: Mark (Aleksandra), Mathew (Kelsie), Alexander, Stefanie (Michal), and Lucas (Celine), and a deeply loving pradziadziu to his five great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Christopher, Gregory, Rory, and Adam.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Waldek (Jadwiga), Jerzy, Romuald (Ania), and his sister Halina (Stanley). In 2006, Henryk received the Siberian Exiles Cross from the Polish Embassy in recognition of valor and suffering.
Henryk was a quiet, strong, and humble man who led by example. His actions spoke louder than words — through his generosity, his support of charities, and his willingness to help those in need. He placed his family above all else, often sacrificing his own comfort so that they could enjoy opportunities he never had. His deep faith in God guided his life, sustained him through hardship, and gave him peace and hope.
Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in knowing he is reunited with those he longed to see again. Henryk’s legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the traditions he passed down, and the love he gave so freely. He will be forever missed, forever remembered, and forever held in our hearts.
