Emma was preceded in death by her parents Matthew and Amy Willett; her sisters Jean, Eva, and Anita, and her brothers Sidney, Otis, Grant, Cleve, Hedley and Allister.
Emma was born and raised in Grand Cascapedia, QC. At a young age she left home to begin teaching in Val d’Or. Emma then moved to Montreal where she raised her three daughters and began working for Baldwin Cartier School Board. She was an exceptional educator, known for being far ahead of her time. She was especially recognized for her progressive work in supporting students with special needs. Her creativity, innovation and deep commitment to her students left a lasting impact on generations of learners. In addition to teaching, she also managed apartment complexes and gave much of her time volunteering. After an incredible career in the world of education, Emma retired in 1991. In her retirement Emma enjoyed painting, baking, and collecting art and antiques, but most of all, she loved being a grandmother. She spent the later years of her life caring for Cynthia during her battle with M.S., and after her passing, lovingly raised her three grandchildren in Mississauga, Ontario. Her life during those years was devoted entirely to them, marked by selflessness, strength and unwavering love.
A Celebration of Emma’s life will begin with a mass at St. Joseph’s Parish (5440 Durie Rd, Mississauga, ON L5M 2J5), on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society of Canada.
