Gabrijela, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, at the age of 91. Though the last years of her life were touched by dementia, her spirit, kindness, sensitivity and the love she shared with those around her remained unmistakable.

Born on November 28, 1934, in Slovenia, she grew up with a deep sense of curiosity, resilience and compassion. She carried these qualities into every chapter of her life. She fled her country to find a new life in Canada.

She built a solid home for her family with her wonderful husband at her side. Her cooking was always flavourful. She was a proficient seamstress and capable gardener. She exhibited courage & bravery with every challenge she encountered. Even as dementia gradually changed her memory in her later years, it never dimmed the warmth in her smile or the comfort of her presence.

She is survived by her loving husband Ignac of 68 years, her daughters Irene (Richard) & Diana (Timothy), her grandchildren Daniella, Alexandra (Michaelangelo), & Nicolas, who will forever remember her strength and unwavering love & support.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers & nurses at Dom Lipa who supported her with patience and dignity throughout her illness.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that while dementia touched her final years, it does not define her legacy. She will be remembered for the life she lived, the love she gave and the memories she leaves behind.
