It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank Heim, a kind and gentle soul who touched the lives of all who knew him. Frank passed away peacefully at home with his daughter by his side, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, patience, and unwavering respect for others.
Born in Mór, Hungary, on September 5, 1938, Frank was one of seven children born to Theresa and Martin Heim. Alongside his beloved siblings—Martin, Steve (deceased), Theresa, Lizzy, Joe, and Tony—Frank emigrated to Canada with his family in 1957 in search of a better life.
In 1964, he married the love of his life, Irma Ort. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their daughter, Gaby (Joe), who later blessed them with a cherished grandson, Luke. Frank's family was his pride and joy, and his gentle, supportive presence was a guiding light for them throughout his life.
Trained as a housepainter in Germany, Frank made his career in Canada as a skilled car painter, working with dedication at Herron Chev Olds for over 30 years. Outside of work, Frank had a deep love for the outdoors. He found joy in swimming, skiing, and spending time in nature. He was also a passionate music lover and a longtime member of the Harfentone Choir, where he found friendship, celebration, and community.
In retirement, Frank faced the challenges of depression, Parkinson's and cancer but the love of his family continued to bring him moments of happiness and light. He remained a man of quiet dignity, always treasuring the simple joys—especially his love of sweets, with cake and chocolate holding a special place in his heart.
The last 3 years were very hard for Frank, and his beloved wife had to reside in long term care due to severe stroke. He was fortunate to have the support of Erinview retirement home and his cat Misty, they were there on a daily basis to keep him company. His daughter supported him through these times and his last dark days.
Frank will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will live on in our memories and in the hearts of those who loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Parkinson Canada or animal welfare organization of your choice.
