It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward (Ted) William Scott on Monday December 29, 2025 in his 94th year. He passed peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Marjorie Christina Scott (Fraser), his three children; Lexie (Jeremy), Fraser (Mary-Ann), and David, his five grandchildren; Torie, Jamie, Hallie, Jorie, and Miranda, and his “adopted” grandson Brandon. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be sorely missed.
Ted was born in Sarnia, Ontario on March 31, 1932 to Edward and Caroline Scott (née Barclay). He was the eldest of six children. Ted was employed by the Toronto Dominion Bank for his entire career, becoming an Assistant Vice President in Corporate Credit in his last years with the bank. His career took him to locations around Ontario and to San Francisco, California.
Ted played clarinet in the White Rose Marching Band in his youth. Early in his life, he was the paymaster in the reserves in Windsor, Ontario. Ted was very involved in the Kiwanis Club and worked as treasurer and on many fundraising projects. He became a Mason early in his life and belonged to the Burns’ Lodge in Wyoming, Ontario. He was also very active in the various churches that he attended due to his work transfers. He was an Elder in the church and served on many committees. Ted also had a passion for classic cars, owning two late 1950’s cars and belonging to classic car clubs. He enjoyed curling, trains, and his lifelong passion for theatre led to him amassing a large collection of programs over the years from Detroit theatres to Stratford and Shaw.
A funeral will be held at St. Giles Kingsway Presbyterian Church, 15 Lambeth Road, Toronto at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, Salvation Army, Scott Mission, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
