Donna passed away in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by love, after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Donna was a vibrant force in life and her happiest moments were spent surrounded by friends and family, welcoming all to her home to share laughter, stories and music. She will be remembered for her playful banter, her quick wit and the ability to find humour almost anywhere. Donna was creative; she loved to decorate, invent, and could fix anything with a glue gun, a popsicle stick and a box of pins; she could write you a song, a rhyme or a story on the fly. Donna also cherished private moments, finding peace in the quiet and beauty of her garden where she loved watching the birds bathe under the mulberry tree.
Donna touched the hearts of so many in her 82 years and she will be deeply missed by her husband Les, son Gregg (Lisa), daughter Lori (Jason) siblings Bev, Maureen, Gayle, (predeceased by her brother Rick), and extended sister Lorna. Donna was also loved by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.
Donna was so lucky to have such a tightly knit family, enduring closeness with her siblings and a one in a million BFF (Lorna) whose lifelong friendship and unwavering support not only made It possible to honour her wishes to remain at home throughout this journey but helped her to find light in the darker moments.
We will never forget the kindness, generosity and support of our Stonemason family, who loved Donna as dearly as she did them.
We extend our gratitude to the team of PSWs and Nurses for their loving care of Donna in her most vulnerable moments and extend a special thanks to Kailey for her kindness, support and sharing Mom’s sense of humour.
We are so thankful for all the visits, calls, messages, food, and pajamas over the last year that brought comfort to Donna and eased our journey with her. We are forever grateful.
Donna's memory will live on through all of us.
Following Donna's wishes a celebration of life will be held in place of a funeral. Details will be forwarded by the family in the near future.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made on mom's behalf to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. (https://cpff.ca/donate/)
