In Celebration of
Donald Finlayson
June 4, 1937 - January 9, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald James Finlayson, who passed away peacefully on Thursday January 9, 2025 at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, with family lovingly at his side. Predeceased by his parents, Malcolm and Mary (née Hodgins), Don was born and raised in Copper Cliff, where he met the love of his life Dorothy (nee Longarini), predeceased 2006, and were married June 24,1961. Cherished father of Jim (Debbie Humphries) and Jane(Greg Kulchin). Loving brother to Jean (Jim O'Gorman), and predeceased siblings Carol (John Passi) and Tom. Special brother-in-law to Doris Koski (Osmo). Most cherished grandfather to Matthew and Stephanie , step-grandfather to Jon (Danielle), and step-great grandfather to Robin. Uncle to Andrew (Barb), Mark (Stephanie), Steve (Alicia) and Neil (Ashlyn). Great-uncle to Mikka and Carter, Rosemary and Dylan, Liam and Madeline, and Bella and Harper.
Although he lived in New Sudbury for the majority of his life, he was always a Copper Cliff boy. He worked at INCO (Vale) as an Electrician for 37 years. He enjoyed hockey, golf, trivia, crosswords and gatherings with his family and friends. In 2023, he moved to the Credit River Retirement Residence of Streetsville in Mississauga, where he enjoyed a new chapter of his life until his passing.
Always a true gentleman, he brought joy to those around him.
We will miss him forever.
Thank you to the staff at Credit Valley Hospital, and a special thank you to the Dialysis nurses, PSWs and retirement home staff, that were so important with Don's care. We are forever grateful for your expertise and kindness.
A Funeral Mass will be held in the spring at St. Stanislaus Church in Copper Cliff, Ontario, on Saturday April 26 at 1pm, followed by interment at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
