Arek was born in Warsaw, Poland just before the start of WWII. His early childhood was very difficult, he left school in grade 6.
Arek ended up being a sailor on a large fishing vessel that docked around the world. He always had stories about hustling at these different ports and bringing s"tuff"onboard to barter with the other sailors.
His vessel eventually docked in Halifax, Canada and with 2 chocolate bars, his bag, he jumped ship and ran to start a better life for himself.
He lived a few years in Montreal and eventually made it to Toronto where he rented a room off of Roncevalles and started working for the now City of Toronto. In 1979 he met his wife Danuta (predeceseased) at a Polish cultural picnic in New Jersey, USA
In 1984 his beautiful daughter Elizabeth was born and in 1986 his beautiful son Stefan (named after Arek's father) was born.
His Polish culture and roots were really important to him, he made sure his children did not forget where he or they came from. He was very strict at home with speaking Polish to his children, his English language wasn't the greatest but was able to communicate with everyone!
Arek lived his life the way he wanted it. He went peacefully in his sleep watching soccer on Polish TV. He will be remembered as a man, who at the age of 87, walked everywhere, still cut his own grass, climbed the roof, shoveled snow, loved to go shopping and had his own sense of humor.
He will be greatly missed by everyone!
May he finally Rest In Peace
