With a heart full of love and a life devoted to kindness, Andrzej (Andy) Plaskon passed away peacefully, in the quiet early morning hours of Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the age of 81. Born in the small village of Snietnica, Poland, Andrzej was one of 10 children, including his twin sister. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kazimiera of 52 years, cherished by his children Derek (Michelle) and Diana (Brian). And will be forever adored by his grandchildren Margaret, Violet and Jade, who knew Dziadziu (Grandpa) always had a coin in his hand ready for them.
A man of many talents, he touched the lives of those around him with his compassion, generosity, and ever-present willingness to help others. A proud green thumb, Andrzej was best known for his passion for gardening. His pride and joy were his beautiful raspberry bushes, tomato plants, and fruit trees; which he tended to with care and dedication. He could rescue any plant that was brought to him. His garden was not just a place of growth, but a testament to his nurturing spirit, and it became a cherished haven for family and friends to gather and enjoy his hard work.
When he wasn’t in the garden, you could find Andrzej watching a good old hockey game (he was a true Be-Leaf-er!) or a classic baseball game. Whether the home team was winning or losing, his love for the game was unwavering.
Andrzej worked as a landscaper and roadside construction worker for the City of Toronto (Old Weston Rd Yard) just shy of 30 years. He was also a dedicated member of many church communities, Andrzej often volunteered and assisted as an Usher at Mass. His faith guided him throughout his life.
Known by his friends and neighbors as "Mr. Fix-It," Andrzej never hesitated to volunteer to help when something needed mending. Whether it was tuning up a lawnmower, shoveling snow, he was always there, ready to lend a helping hand. His love for technology never ceased to amaze, as he embraced each new gadget with enthusiasm.
Above all, Andrzej was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched, the lessons he imparted, and the love he shared. He leaves behind a family that will forever cherish his memory and honor the example he set.
Thank you to The Dorothy Ley Hospice for making his final days comfortable and peaceful.
Dać wieczne odpoczywanie, rest in peace, Andrzej, you will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
