In her 100th year, Adelaide “Carmela” passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at Trillium Hospital, surrounded by her loving immediate family.
Born in Italy, Carmela met her beloved husband, Fiorino, before the two immigrated to Canada in pursuit of a better life and new opportunities for their growing family. With unwavering dedication, hard work, and resilience, they built a strong foundation and shared 36 beautiful years of marriage.
Carmela remained a devoted mother and grandmother throughout her life—the heart and anchor of her family. She poured her love into caring for her children and grandchildren, always guided by the deep religious values instilled in her from a young age.
A passionate gardener, Carmela found joy in flowers and nature, often trying to recreate the beauty of her homeland, which she held close to her heart. She appreciated the small, meaningful details of daily life, taking pride in her home and always dressing with care, especially for church, family events, and special gatherings.
She loved returning to Italy, exploring its cities, hiking through mountains, and strolling by tranquil lakes. Time spent with her sisters—sharing chocolate, gelato, delicious meals, and laughter—brought her immense happiness. Her rich storytelling and warm humour lit up the room, drawing from a lifetime of experiences.
Strong, independent, and active until her final year, Carmela was always ready to lend a hand. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Claudio (Gabriella) and Susanna, and her grandchildren, Michael, Jena (Dimitar), and Vanessa (Wade).
Carmela’s enduring love, strength, and joyful spirit will live on in all who were fortunate to know her.
