In Celebration of

Zofia (Sophia) Common

September 12, 1931 -  October 24, 2022

We are deeply saddened to announce the unexpected passing of our dear mother Zofia Common, at Hamilton General Hospital, in the early morning hours on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the wonderful age of 91, with loving family by her side. The beloved wife to the late Dr. David Common; devoted mother to Barb Kolodziej, Ursula Jasinski and Henry Kolodziej; cherished Babcia to Justin, Tabitha, the late Thomas Jasinski, and Melissa; adored great Babcia to Zofia (Zoe), Hailey, and Daniel.

Zofia was born in Pustomyty, Poland to Walter and Stanislawa Werbski. She was one of five sisters and two brothers. She had a loving, caring and generous heart, always willing to give and help. Zofia never sat still. She filled a life of adventure with travelling, trying new things and seeing new places. She attended Mass regularly; loved spending time with her children and grandchildren; loved her cats, playing mini-golf, gardening, going to the movies and plays, and mini hotel get-aways.

Zofia was deeply loved and will be sorrowfully missed. She lived by the following:

Happy moments, praise God.
Difficult moments, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God.
Painful moments, trust God.
Every moment, thank God.

“Laugh as we always laughed, at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect. Without the trace of a shadow on it.” - Henry Scott Holland

Family and friends may call at Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St. (between Q.E.W and Queensway) on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.

Ursula,
You have my deepest condolences for the loss of your dear mother. I’m am so sorry that I had never met her. But knowing you as long as I have, I can only imagine what a wonderful woman she must have been to have created a daughter like yourself. I am extending a great big hug to you.

Dear Sophie,
It was just a few short years ago I got to visit with you while you were under the care of your devoted Sister Diane...or as you would call her, Danusia.
Rest in peace my dear Sister and may God bless you and keep you.
Love,

I will miss you a lot my dear friend Zofia.
When I see you again at the resurrection I will spend a lot of time with you to pick up where we left from and chat about the amazing times we spend with your family members at the Barrie's Bay cottage.
