In Celebration of

Zlata Gudelj

November 15, 1934 -  January 17, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Zlata Gudelj (nee Penava) on January 17th 2021 at the age of 86. She leaves behind husband Luka. She will be dearly missed by son Joe and Julie (daughter-in-law), daughter Mary and Mark (son-in-law) and four loving grandchildren. She will forever be known as “Baka” to Olivia, Grace, Lauren and Ben.
She was an immigrant from Yugoslavia and came to Canada in search of a better life. In her endeavor, she was helped by her late brother Ivan (John), his wife Katica and children Anna and Mike all of whom she loved dearly and was forever in their debt. Zlata was a hard worker and soon found a position with Chrysler. Though sewing was her work, her family was her life. After marriage and two children she still managed the family, work and hobbies such as gardening, needlepoint, crochet and cooking. We will forever miss Baka’s comfort foods like roll ups and Baka’s meat sauce & pasta!
She was most happy when surrounded by her family and no matter where she went or whom she was with everyone gravitated toward her quiet demeanour and friendly personality.
Due to COVID protocols a private family service will be held followed by internment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Mississauga. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada or ShareLife.
