In Celebration of

Zbigniew (Zibi) Piotrowski

February 1, 1950 - June 13, 2021

On Sunday morning of June 13, 2021, a dear Dad, Grandpa, Brother and best Friend passed away peacefully at the age of 71. His two sons, Eric and Rafal, were by his side, holding his hands until the very last moment before Zibi set on a beautiful journey to meet Jesus, and to rejoin his beloved wife, their dear Mom, Gracie (Grażynka), in heaven. Eric and Rafal are extremely grateful and feel very blessed for every moment spent with Dad.

Zibi was an incredible dreamer. Born on February 1, 1950 to Józefa and Stanisław, he was the second oldest of 4 boys (brothers Heniek, Rysiek and Leszek). While he enjoyed his childhood at the family farm and cherished his relationships with his brothers, he was always looking up at the sky and believed that one day, he would come to North America, a dream inspired by western flicks with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Zibi had great love and respect for his own country of Poland. He looked up to his heroes, John Paul II and Ronald Reagan, to give him strength to fight for the freedom of his beloved country of Poland.

While he was persistent in his fight for freedom against the communist regime in Poland, he knew he needed to come to North America to build a better life for his two boys. His dream came true in 1989, when his beloved sister-in-law Antonina (Tosia) lovingly offered to help to bring his family to Canada. Zibi, Gracie and the boys have been and will be forever grateful to Ciocia Tosia for this gift and all the sacrifices she made to help realize that dream. Rest in peace Ciocia.

Upon arrival to Canada, Zibi changed his trade and picked up any job he could to fulfil his other dream of buying a home. He achieved this dream and cared for his home so well. We will always remember the best tomatoes from his garden and lush green backyard lawn that could be the envy of any soccer stadium.

Professionally, Zibi became a fine baker and at home, an incredible cook. His soups were often highly competed for between his two boys (and their children); they truly were a work of art!

Zibi was a man of good principles, strong Catholic faith and was always full of optimism. He always valued hard work and often joked that if he ever wins the lottery, he will share his full winnings with his two boys, but he expects the boys to keep working their jobs until retirement!

Zibi so loved his wife Gracie, and the sight of the two of them dancing and laughing brought the family a lot of joy. Their love was an inspiration for his sons, who followed their path and started their own families with Renatka (Eric) and Madzia (Rafal). While we are all very sad about Zibi’s passing, the image of Zibi being embraced by Jesus and dancing with Gracie makes us all smile to the fullest.

He will be dearly missed by his family, which includes 4 wonderful grandchildren Damian, Adalia, Kaya and Lucas. We love you so much! Rest in peace Tata and Dziadzia!

We thank all the wonderful nurses and doctors at Credit Valley Hospital for taking such great care of Zibi.

Due to Ontario government restrictions, we will be holding limited visitations at the funeral home by invitation only.

A Funeral Mass for Zibi will be held at St. Eugene de Mazenod Church, 1252 Steeles Ave. W. Brampton on Friday, June 18, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.
