In Celebration of
Yam Youne Chan Fun Fung
October 12, 1930 – October 4, 2020

Peacefully passed away, at the age of 89, on Sunday October 4, 2020 at Credit Valley Hospital.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph Anyook for 54 years. Loving mother of Michael, James (Jenny), Andrew, Eileen (James Ah-Fat) and Evelyn. Proud “Popo” (grandmother) of Stephanie, Christopher (Emily), Jeffrey (Julia) and Judy. Proud “PoTai” (great grand mother) of Allison.

She was always present for her loved ones as she frequently travelled between Mauritius and Canada in order to spend time with her family and friends in both countries. She took great interest in the lives of her grandchildren and always made sure they were happy, healthy and well fed!

Yam Youne loved any occasion to socialize, playing Mahjong or card games with friends at the MCAO clubhouse in Toronto’s China Town and in Mauritius at her house or her friends’ places. Her other passion was cooking for the family – she especially enjoyed making Niouk Yen (Hakka meat balls) and stuffed tofu. Her favourite dishes were lobster, roasted pork, and fish, which she would never turn down! She was so happy and loved being around company – she always looked so much forward to family get-togethers.

She was a great fan of tennis and also enjoyed cheering for Liverpool FC with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching Chinese Dramas and kept her mind sharp by regularly playing Sudoku on her iPad!

Yam Youne will be dearly missed by many and will forever be in our hearts.

If you wish, donations may be made to Trillium Health Partners (Credit Valley Hospital) in Yam Youne’s honour.
