In Celebration of

Yaeko Nishihama

April 28, 1922 - June 7, 2022

It is with great sadness that Muriel and Wayne announce the peaceful passing of their dear Mother, Yaeko, Eleanor ( nee Nishi ) in her one hundredth year at St. Joseph’s Health Centre on June 7, 2022.

Yaeko was the youngest of nine children born to Unosuke and Kura Nishi in Steveston, B.C. She moved to Ontario in 1947 and lived most of her life in Toronto.

Predeceased by her husband, Takashi, and her daughter, Cathy ( Jack ).
Yaeko will, also , be missed by her life-long dear friend, Eiko Kiyonaga, her grandchildren Midori ( Mark Hodgson ), Emily, David ( Corrie ) and Laura, her great-grandson, Tadashi, many nieces and nephews in Ontario, B.C. and the U.S., Family and Friends.

According to her wishes, her family will celebrate her life - a long life, well-lived.

In lieu of flowers and Koden, if you wish to honour Yaeko’s memory, please make donations to The Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, 6 Garamond Crt., North York, Ontario M3C 1Z5 or St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation of Toronto - Palliative Care Unit - 30 The Queensway, Toronto, Ontario M6R 1B5
