In Celebration of

Witold Sokolski

January 1, 1945 -  August 4, 2020

It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the sudden death of Witold (Witek) Sokolski. Witek passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 in hospital after a four month battle with lung cancer. He was 75 years old. Beloved husband of 52 years of Hanna. Loving father of Michal (Danusia) and Marek (Joanna). Cherished grandfather of Sofia, Ewelina, Matthew, Julia. Dear brother of Grazyna.
Having studied at Ryerson and the University of Toronto, Witek worked as an Electrical Engineer for Ontario Power Generation – formerly Ontario Hydro. An active member of the Polish community, Witek was an Instructor and life time supporter of the Polish Scouting Association in Canada; a member of the Canadian Polish Congress (National Executive) and a member of the board of the Canadian Polish Millennium Fund.
Witek enjoyed most of his retirement travelling, “fixing” or building things using all of his favourite equipment, and spending time at the cottage in Kaszuby, Ontario.
Witek will be missed and lovingly remembered by extended family and friends. He will also be missed by his tools.
A special note of thanks is extended to Andrzej & Ewa Lutynski, Mark & Andrea Van Elsberg, Joanne Raba and all those who offered their kind support. Heartfelt thanks also go to the medical staff at Toronto General Hospital for their excellent care.
A private family service will be held. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery in Wilno Ontario If desired, donations may be made to the The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
