In Celebration of

Wilma Selma Steponas

November 29, 1933 -  March 13, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wilma Steponas, who left this world on March 13, 2024 at the age of 90. Born on November 29, 1933, in Taurege, Lithuania, she embarked on a remarkable journey that touched the lives of many.

After her family's departure from Lithuania to Germany during the war, Wilma set out on a new chapter at the age of 16, immigrating to Canada to start life anew in Toronto. In 1955, she joyfully married the love of her life, Big Ernie, and together they raised two sons.

Known for her vibrant spirit, Wilma was a beacon of joy. Her fun-loving and kind-hearted nature endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a knack for laughter and delighted in hosting gatherings for friends and family, making everyone feel like a cherished member of her extended family.

Wilma was an active member of the woman’s auxiliary and church choir at Redeemer Lutheran church.

A dedicated volunteer at Labdara long term care, Wilma dedicated her time to brightening the spirits of residents. In a beautiful twist of fate, she later became a resident herself, continuing to share her warmth and love with those around her.

Wilma leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her two sons, John and Ernie their wives Susan and Janice, three grandchildren, Ella, Shane, and Lauren, and one great-grandson; Gabriel. Her infectious smile and laughter will forever echo in our hearts. Though she may be physically gone, her spirit lives on through the memories of the countless lives she touched.

We are truly grateful for the kind and caring staff at Labdara, donations can be made to Labdara Lithuanian Nursing home.

May Wilma rest in eternal peace, and may her family find solace in the beautiful memories they shared.
