William (Bill) Yeo passed away peacefully on Monday October 6 th , 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Bill lived to the ripe old age of 94.
In 1931, Bill was born in Sudbury, Ontario, where his lifelong curiosity and drive began to develop. After graduating from Sudbury High School, he went on to attend the University of Toronto, where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and proudly skated as a member of the Varsity Blues hockey team.
Bill married Margaret Robinson, and together they began a family that would become his greatest source of pride. In 1964, the family moved to Mississauga, where Bill put his engineering skills to work and became a dedicated volunteer in the community. He was actively involved with the local Scouts group and was particularly proud to have designed the Mississauga Canoe Club’s (recently retired) “monster trailer” which served generations of paddlers.
An avid sportsman, Bill loved skating and playing tennis until he started needing “replacement parts.” He was a dedicated supporter of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs. In his later years, he cherished his Monday afternoon beers at the Legion with “the Bills”.
He will be remembered for his love of singing, his endless lists, his collection of tins and containers, his devotion to tracking sports statistics and his knack for making the simplest things complicated.
Family gatherings were his happiest times — full of storytelling, and his infamous sayings that will continue to echo at every get-together.
Bill is survived by his daughters Mary Jane Abbott (and sons Matthew, Christopher and Ryan), Nancy Britton and partner Bruce Fischer (and son Michael), and his son Bill (William), wife Sheri (and children Benjamin and Jaqueline). He will be remembered with love, admiration and gratitude by all who knew him.
His family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff of Amica City Centre for their kindness and care during Bill’s time there. Also, to the staff at Trillium Health Partners, Mississauga Hospital for their support in Bill’s last days.
A celebration to commemorate Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
