In Celebration of

William "Vas" Cord

September 17, 1931 -  October 10, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bill (Vas) Cord on October 10, 2024. Bill passed away early Thursday morning. He just celebrated his 93rd birthday and had just started his 71st year of marriage. “Vas”, as he was known by many of his friends, loved music. He played accordion and sang in choirs for many years. Mom always said he was a very good dancer. He enjoyed a good laugh and being with others who did too. He loved the camaraderie of working at the bar at the Kyiv Pavilion during Caravan. Camping and later, going to the cottage in Hawkestone, were times that he enjoyed most, especially with his family. Even when his health declined, Dad still took joy from hearing about us, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bill leaves behind his loving wife Irene (Uhryn). A wonderful father of Bill (Christine), Terry (Irene), Andrea, and Nadya (Roman). He cherished his grandchildren. Loving grandfather of Elias (Andree), Adrian (Katherine), Alexandra (Jared), Alexander (Kate), Max (Nada), Ivanka (Mash), Cassandra, Thaddeus, Sonya and Claudia. Very proud Pradido (Great Grandfather) of Cameron, Rose, Rory, Otis and Boston. He was a great man, and we will all sadly miss him but never forget him. Вічная пам'ять.

We would like to thank the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre nurses and staff and Father John Tataryn for their compassionate care they showed to William.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 5-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at All Saint of the Ukraine Chapel, 1280 Dundas Street West, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 11am. Interment will follow at St. Volodymyr Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations to Ukrainian National Federation Toronto Branch or The Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre - St. Demetrius Development Corporation (stdemetrius.ca).
