In Celebration of

William M. "Bill" Stuart

With sadness, his family announces the death of William M. "Bill" Stuart on Friday, July 28 at Cawthra Gardens Long Term Care. Devoted husband of 59 years to Faye (Shouldice), loving father to Valerie (Peter Shepherd) and Tracey (Sean Turriff), and proud Grandpa to Elizabeth, Andrew, Jacob, and Joshua.

A dedicated educator for 34 years with Etobicoke and Toronto District School Boards, in retirement, Bill was able to devote more time to the volunteer work he so enjoyed. A member of Humber Valley United Church since 1966, Bill served as usher, elder, and Clerk of Session. A 42 year Kiwanian with the Humber Valley and Kingsway Humber Clubs, Bill held positions as President, Lieutenant-Governor, and Governor of the Eastern Canada & Caribbean District. Bill enjoyed his time as Board Member of the Volunteer Centre of Toronto and the Kiwanis Music Festival. Bill and Faye travelled extensively allowing Bill to indulge in his love of exploring new and historic sites, golf, and scuba diving. Bill spent many happy hours sailing, golfing, and cross-country skiing at the family
cottage in Haliburton.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff on the Willow Way wing of Cawthra Gardens for their gentle care and support over 7 1/2 years. Many thanks also go to Ligaya (Grace) Nacpil who provided 8 years of excellent care for Bill and became like another daughter to him.

Cremation (following Bill’s wishes) and a private service with the immediate family have taken place. For those who wish, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to Sleeping Children Around the World.

A devoted family man, we will miss Bill’s generous and caring nature, wise counsel, gifts with language, and spirit of adventure. We have so many wonderful memories to cherish.

Deepest sympathy at the loss of your husband Faye. I know your devotion to his care along with your family brought comfort to Bill as he went through his illness. May the happy memories you all shared together help ease the sorrow of his passing. Nadine

As the daughter of Bill's cousin Margaret Cole (Whebell), who died in April 2022, I well remember meeting Bill and Faye, Tracy and Valerie, at may Brown Reunions. My mother and uncle (Arthur Cole) have fond memories of him. I also have a few old photos that were my mother's and grandmother's (Elizabeth Cole).

My condolences to all the family at this difficult time. It must have been difficult visiting him in Long Term Care for 7 1/2 years, but I know from my experience with my mother that the caregivers can be a great help and support, especially toward the end.

My prayers are with you all.
