In Celebration of

William Jarosz

April 23, 1935 -  January 4, 2021

It is with profound sadness we announce that our family patriarch, William (Bill) Jarosz, passed away peacefully on Monday January 4, 2021, at Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga.

Beloved husband of Gennoveffa (Jenny) for 63 years. Loving and caring Father of John (Patricia), Gary (Gabriella), and Anthony (Susan). He truly loved his daughters in law like his own children. Special Grandfather of Katelyn, Brendan, Justina, Steven and Dylan who were all graced with his wisdom, generosity and writing skills. Great Grandfather to Ellie and Aiden, who unfortunately did not get the chance to experience his loving embrace. Survived by his siblings, Stenia, James, Leslie and Danuta, predeceased by Stanley and Sophie. He will be greatly missed by all his extended family, friends and colleagues and many who knew him as “Uncle Bill”.

Born in Janwarowa, Poland on April 23, 1935, he experienced a very challenging and sometimes tragic childhood. He lost his mother and younger sister at the age of seven, lived in an orphanage with his older brother and was separated from their sister during the war years while his Father served in the Allied Army. Reunited after the war, they immigrated to Canada in 1951. Experiencing the breakup of his family at a young age drove within him an enduring desire to make the “Family Jarosz” his single most important passion. He wrote meaningful poems for the family, sharing his wisdom and life lessons. He was the catalyst for family get togethers, always extolling the value of the entire family getting together for Christmas with no exceptions. He loved seeing everyone talking and laughing, and would often playfully recite a rhyming jingle he had prepared for the occasion. Most of all, he loved everyone’s company as he campaigned for all of us to “Make Time.” Family meant everything to him and he was fiercely protective of every member of his family. He was kind, helpful and never had a negative thing to say about anyone. He believed in the power of positive thinking as the “Road to Success.” We will all miss his enormous character and spirit and it is an immeasurable loss to us all.

I have so many memories spending many Easters and Christmas holidays together, family dinners & parties. Vacations to the cottage, and places like Aruba. I even remember as a small child my Uncle giving me “my first driving lesson” as I sat on his lap driving on the back roads near Auntie Annie’s and Uncle Joe’s cottage.. ...Uncle Bill was all about family and would always remind us all by saying “ la famiglia”. We can’t be together to grieve a man that will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers with you all. RIP 💔🙏🏻

A precious poem that our Father wrote:

Parting is such sweet sorrow until we meet again

Don’t cry for me or my family
For I have never left you
My love for you will be with you
Till the end of time

Don’t think of me as gone
My journey just begun
Life holds so many facets
This earth is only one

We have been together
For such a long time
My love for you is never lost
I know we shall meet again
Yes we shall meet again

A poem our Father wrote that encapsulates part of his life journey:

I was very young
When I started travelling around
I have travelled half the world
So I have been told
To the many countries I have been
You would not believe
The things I have seen
I have crossed the oceans and the seas
I am amazed I have survived all of this
One country I have never seen
So I came to Canada at the age of sixteen.

I strongly believe that family is everything! I organized our family Christmas every year because I didn’t have my family together when I was young. The message that I would like to pass on to my children and grandchildren is work hard, stay close and love each other as I love you. You are my world for the hardships I have overcome and the legacy I leave behind.
