I am profoundly saddened to hear of "Uncle Willy's" passing. He was a dear, sweet man, whose smile always filled my heart.

I will always remember his unconditional kindness, his wonderful laugh, and his lightness of heart. He was a beacon of light in my childhood. You always knew he would greet you with open arms and an invitation to chat.

He was also a great friend to my father in the early years on West Glen. My father often regaled me with stories of their antics. "Bill" Dad would say, "was a helluva lot of fun!"

Uncle Willy helped my Dad fix, build, and rebuild anything and everything. I remember them spending days installing a fireplace in our rec room or digging up the basement floor to install new sewage pipe.

Bill was a fierce and loyal friend to Dad, a man of honour, passion, and kindness.

I fondy remember the last time I saw him. It was in the 1990's while my mother still lived on the street. I hadn't seen him in many years. He looked at me and beamed, his face so full of joy. Then, suddenly, his eyes welled with tears. "It is sooo good to see you Bernie" he exclaimed. And as the tears rolled down his face, he hugged me as if it would be the last time we would see each other. Sadly, he was right. I am tearing up as I write this.

Bill Giroux was as good and decent a man as you will ever meet. I am so grateful to have known him.

Rest in peace Uncle Willy.

Dear Ida, Mike, Paul and family,

We were saddened to hear of Bill's passing, and on behalf of the Frantzke family, we extend our heartfelt condolences. I have fond memories of "Uncle Willy" perched in the shade of the porch on West Glen, always with a friendly smile or wave as we headed up the park entrance. He was a happy and reassuring sentinel, and always with a twinkle in his eye. He raised two fine boys, and I hope your memories of the many good years will be a comfort to you all.

Sincerely, Bev & Bart, and the extended Frantzke family from the carefree days on West Glen Crescent.
