In Celebration of

William "Bill" Robertson Seaton

May 21, 1939 -  October 4, 2024

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Bill on Friday, October 4th with his family by his side.

Bill was the beloved husband of Ellen, his wife of almost 64 years, at the age of 21 and she aged 18. Bill was predeceased by his daughter Anne (George), aged 33 years, and was a truly devoted and hard working father to both her and youngest daughter Lorna (Mark).

Cherished grandfather to Blair, Ryan, Angela, Jillian, Victoria, Hunter and Cameron and great-grandfather to Robert and Alice.

Born in Blair Atholl, Scotland in 1939, Bill was the youngest of 6 children to William and Isabella Seaton. Predeceased by siblings Alaistair (Rita), Helen (Al), Stella (Bert), Isobel (George) and survived by Jean (Archie).

Married in October 1960, Bill was a newly wed for only 10 days before being called up for his National service in the Royal Air Force and had to leave his new bride. He served in Bridgenorth for the Air Force police before being transferred to Farnborough, England, where he completed his two years service.

In 1967, Bill immigrated to Canada to build a new life for his new bride and 3 year old daughter Anne. He joined the Carpenter’s union and had a successful career that spanned over 55 years and the west to east coasts of Canada.

Bill was an avid gardener and took great pride in his floral and vegetable patches. As his parents did before him, he provided an array of vegetables for his family and neighbours who often peeked over the fence in conversation and curiosity. His knowledge has been passed on to the next generation who accepts the task of keeping his garden growing with honour.

Bill was also very adventurous and young at heart. He loved his motorcycle and was proud to be a co-founder of his Masonic motorcycle club. Along with his brothers he took lengthy pleasure rides and even ventured out to Calgary on his own for a 10 day round trip.
As a world traveller, Bill adventured to his homeland many times, New Zealand, Germany and the islands of the Caribbean.

Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter, Neweduk Chapel, 1981 Dundas St W, Mississauga, on Saturday, October 12 from 2-3pm, service at 3pm with reception to follow.

Though Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew him and whose lives he touched, we are grateful for the long life he lived and the precious memories he leaves behind.

I remember Bill as a happy and caring man who was always welcoming. He would invite you in for a chat and a drink. I can still hear his whistle as he would step out the front door to bring the neighbours' dog across the road for its nightly treats. We could hear his whistle inside our house and would say to each other, "Must be treat time!" All of the neighbourhood dogs knew Bill quite well, and wouldn't even pass by the driveway without making a detour into the driveway for a treat. My grandparents knew the Seaton family since they moved in and had become great friends and neighbours with the whole family.

To Ellen, Lorna and all the family:
Our deepest sympathies to you and all your family as you grieve the passing of your dear husband, father and grandfather. Bill was a dear friend to my deceased husband, Stevan Isakovic, to me and our son Alexander (Sasha) Isakovic for many years. On our visits to your home, we all enjoyed his great sense of humour and admired his amazing gardening skills. Even up until a few weeks before he passed away, I was surprised to hear that he was out tending to his garden, doing his best to harvest the crop of potatoes, carrots, onions and tomatoes. Over the years we knew him, he would often generously and proudly give us some of those delicious vegetables. Bill was always happy to have some time with us in his unique downstairs bar/den surrounded by the many interesting souvenirs from his travels. He would happily share his stories, his wine and sometimes there would be music and even a little dance on occasion! Stevan and I were privileged to take care of his investments for over 12 years and were always happy to hear him exclaiming "Giddyup" whenever he particularly liked the results. Bill lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed, yet forever remembered with a big smile. Here is a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt that I hope will give you some comfort: “Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends leave footprints in your heart.” Bill definitely left big footprints in our hearts.

Warm hugs to you, Judy Isakovic

Andy Pollock (Lodge Brother)

Entered October 13, 2024 from Streetsville

I knew Bill as a brother for many years, he always had a kind word for all and advice for newer members of the lodge. He was a stalwart member, always taking his seat in lodge early, so that he could get what he considered "the best seat. Eventually, that became his regular place in lodge and it was easy to see if he were ever absent- which was extremely rare. Bill was a brother with a big heart and a willingness to help others.
He will be missed greatly by all members of Mississauga Lodge A.F.&A.M. No.524 G.R.C. "He lived respected and died regretted."

Bill was such an attractive little boy, his cheeky smile would usually get him out of mischief, but left me, his big sister in trouble. I'll miss our weekly phone chats so much, as Bill and I remembered with laughter so many happy times.

Much love from your big sister, Jean X
