In Celebration of

Wanda (Junie) Matuszkiewicz

June 20, 2021

A bright light has gone out: Wanda (Junie) Matuszkiewicz – sister, Cioci (auntie), great-aunt, and friend. Francophile. Educator. Scuba diver. Skier. Runner. Polymath. Explorer. Wanderer. Wine lover. Bon vivant and force majeure.

She will be missed and remembered with love by her family, friends, students and colleagues.

In lieu of flowers, Wanda would have liked you to make a donation to the Sinai Health Foundation or the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

In keeping with Wanda’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation.

Her ashes will be scattered on Georgian Bay: please visit her there.

Au revoir, Junie.

A new star just lit up the universe. I hope the others will be able to keep up.
Proud to have been part of Wanda's life. Sharing my sorrow with her family and all who knew her.

Wanda was such an adventurous spirit. She was filled with a love of life, the spirit of always trying to do better, to improve in one skill or another, be it learning a language, climbing a mountain, propelling others from students to colleagues to do the best they could do in whatever endeavours they chose. She was an excellent traveller, open to new places, new cultures, new people, taking her experiences and learning from them. She was a mentor to many colleagues; she opened up possibilities that had not yet been considered by younger colleagues, and she was a wonderful supportive friend. She lived a full life every day and lived without regrets. A great lesson and a good friend. I will miss her.

Wanda, my friend, was a little dynamo! She had a lifelong passion for learning as well as participating in sports. Who else do you know that climbed to the base camp of
Mt. Everest? May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
