In Celebration of

Walter (Volodymyr) Okipniuk

August 27, 1922 -  May 11, 2020

Wolodymyr (Walter) Okipniuk, 97, of Toronto, Canada passed away peacefully on May 11, 2020 after falling ill with COVID-19. He was born August 27, 1922 in Zolotyj Potik, Ukraine.
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, uncle and brother, he is survived by his wife of 68 years, Zenobia, by his children Irina and Myron (Tanya, Shelley), by his grandchildren Andrea and Avery, and by his brother Borys and his family in Ukraine.
He will be deeply mourned by his family and by many in the Ukrainian community - which he served tirelessly and devotedly throughout his life.
Due to conditions under COVID-19 the immediate family will participate in funeral services (which will be available on video). No further plans have been made for commemorations at this time. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre in Walter’s name would be greatly appreciated.

Vichna yomu pamyat’.

May his soul rest in peace.

Please accept my sincere sympathy upon the passing of dear Vuyko Vlodzio. My heart goes out to all of you because I understand perfectly the great loss you are feeling at this time. We are now left with special memories of the good times, the healthy and happy times, the days that one never really appreciates until they are gone ... May your cherished memories sustain you now as you say goodbye and let us remember that both our fathers are together, continuing their long, happy chats, in a place where there is no suffering, only green fields, peace and eternal joy.... in their forever home! May you all find peace and consolation in this knowledge and trust...
