In Celebration of

Walter Barnes

March 22, 1930 -  June 25, 2025

With a mixture of profound love and sadness we announce the passing of our beloved dad and grandpa, Walter.

Known by many, but certainly loved by all, Dad lived life simply and fully. Vacations spent with family and friends, legendary casino visits, gardening out back, shredded wheat and PBJ sandwiches, enduring painful Leafs seasons or just homebodying with Mum… Dad’s greatest joys were found with family.

Predeceased by his son, Kevin (Sharon), Dad is survived by the love of his life and wife of 67 years, Winnifred, his sons Kerry (Christine), Keith (Antonietta), and all of his grandchildren: Stephen, Kyle, Dakota, Sierra, Christopher and Nicholas.

Dad leaves behind a legacy of love and quiet understanding.

When you’ve lived 95 years, you’ve just about outlived ‘em all… so the family will have a private service. We’ll have a celebration of his life later this summer at the kingdom on Brock Ave for all his extended family and friends… to share laughter, stories and great memories. Details will follow.

Entered July 3, 2025 from Cobourg

We have known Mr and Mrs Barnes for almost 50 years! Very sweet couple who were lovely neighbours and were always sitting on the varanda together. It was hard to hear that Mr Barnes passed away and how hard his loss is for everyone especially for Mrs Barnes who spent 67 years by his side. We pray for strength and courage in embracing a life without a husband, a father and grandfather but cherish all of the memories for he will always live in your hearts!

Our sincere condolences and sending our love at this difficult time; Fatima De Sousa, John Santos, Vicky Cullihall and Lucy Santos
